California Man Flees from UHP, Manhunt in Elsinore Ensues

A California man was arrested Wednesday following a manhunt in Elsinore, Utah. A Utah Highway Patrol trooper stopped a Prius Tuesday evening near the Elsinore Interstate-70 off-ramp for taillight and no visible registration violations. When the trooper approached the car, he smelled marijuana and brought the driver to the patrol vehicle to continue his investigation. After running a records check on the Prius, the trooper learned the car was stolen and tried to arrest the driver. The driver fled on foot into Elsinore. Sevier County Sheriff’s deputies, UHP troopers, and Richfield and Salina City police officers searched the area for the man. The Sheriff’s Office alerted area residents with the CodeRed messaging system to lock their doors and keep the keys to their vehicles inside the house. The passenger was arrested and released after being interviewed by police. Dispatch received a call the next morning informing them of a tent that was pitched just off the shoulder of I-70. Officers interviewed the man at the makeshift campsite and determined he was the same individual who had eluded officers the night before. 20-year-old Devyn Coles-Flower of Fairfield, California was booked into the Sevier County Jail on multiple charges including Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Fleeing.
