1 injured in 5-vehicle crash after rock slides onto highway

HEBER CITY, Utah (AP) — Utah authorities say one person was injured in a five-vehicle crash that occurred after a large rock slid onto Route 189 near Heber City, closing the highway for about two hours Thursday before it could be cleared by wreckers.

The Highway Patrol says a northbound car struck the rock in a very narrow area where there’s blind curve due a rock cliff wall on one side of the highway and that there’s a guardrail on the other side.

The Highway Patrol says the car behind the one that hit the rock stopped but that three others then crashed into the first two cars.

The injured person who was transported to a hospital reportedly had minor injuries.
